Bardsley will boost a Blades team which has struggled this year

Sheffield United have signed Manchester United defender Phil Bardsley on loan, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.

Bardsley, 22, who was on loan at Aston Villa and Rangers last season, has moved to Bramall Lane for three months.

Meanwhile, Blades manager Bryan Robson has said he is hoping to sign a midfielder within the next 48 hours.

Robson missed out on another Manchester United youngster, Republic of Ireland prospect Darron Gibson, who is expected to join Wolves on loan instead.
