    Norway's Solfrid Koanda put in a dominant performance to secure the inaugural Olympic 81kg women's weightlifting title at Paris 2024 on Saturday.
    Koanda lifted a snatch of 121kg and a clean and jerk Olympic record of 152kg to set a new Olympic record total of 275kg and become only the second Norwegian to win a weightlifting title and first for 52 years.
    Egypt's Sara Ahmed finished with a total of 268kg to grab the silver, narrowly beating Ecuador's Neisi Dajomes who took bronze.
    Lasha Talakhadze of Georgia won gold in the men's over 102kg weightlifting.
    Varazdat Lalayan of Armenia took silver and Gor Minasyan of Bahrain claimed bronze.

    Bulgaria's Karlos Nasar set a world record as he claimed gold in the men's 89kg weightlifting on Friday.
    The 20-year-old improved his own clean and jerk record to 224kg, which contributed to a record total of 404kg.
    Colombia's Yeison Lopez took silver with 390kg while Italy's Antonino Pizzolato claimed a second straight bronze (384kg).
    Olivia Reeves won the women's 71kg title, with the 21-year-old American registering a total of 262kg.
    Colombia's Mari Sanchez was second with 257kg while Ecuador's Angie Palacios finished third (256kg).

    China's Luo Shifang won gold in the women's 59kg weightlifting with a total of 241kg, setting Olympic records in the snatch and clean and jerk.
    Canada's Maude Charron took silver with 236kg, edging out Taiwan's defending champion Kuo Hsing-Chun who took bronze with 235kg.
    Later on Thursday, Indonesia's Rizki Juniansyah won gold in the men's 73kg with a total of 354kg.
    Weeraphon Wichuma of Thailand took silver, lifting 346kg, and Bulgaria's Bozhidar Andreev claimed bronze with 344kg.

    Li Fabin and Hou Zhihui ensured it was a celebratory night for China at South Paris Arena as they scooped two weightlifting gold medals and set Olympic records in the process.
    Li, who also won gold at Tokyo 2020, claimed victory in the men's 61kg category.
    The 31-year-old lifted a new Olympic record 143kg in the snatch and 167kg in the clean and jerk for an overall score of 310kg.
    Theerapong Silachai of Thailand took silver, with American Hampton Morris winning bronze.
    In the women's 49kg category, China's Hou also successfully defended the gold she won in Tokyo with a combined score of 206kg, including an Olympic record 117kg in the clean and jerk.
    Romania's Mihaela Cambei had an overall pull of 205kg and had to settle for silver, with Thailand's Surodchana Khambao winning bronze.
