Christian Dailly revels in Rangers' Scottish Cup final win

Dailly ended last season with Rangers

Charlton have secured the services of veteran Scottish defender Christian Dailly after he impressed on trial.

The 35-year-old was released by Rangers at the end of last season.

Parkinson told the club website: "We're delighted we've agreed a deal for Christian to join us. He's a very good professional, very fit for his age.

"He'll be a good influence around the training ground. It's so important to have good role models in your football club and Christian gives us that."

It's been a difficult summer and I'm sure one day myself and the chairman can explain to people what's been going on

Parkinson has been a frustrated bystander this summer, having to watch a host of players leave the club while they await a new takeover.

Until Dailly's signing the Addicks had only signed two new players, Miguel Angel Llera from MK Dons and ex-Leeds defender Frazer Richardson.

Parkinson told BBC London 94.9: "We've got a lot of holes in our squad and I don't want our supporters to think we don't realise that.

"But we are in a very tricky situation and I can't really say too much more than that.

"It's been a difficult summer and I'm sure one day myself and the chairman can explain to people what's been going on."
