John Hughes is keen to keep strengthening his side at Easter Road
John Hughes is still keen to add to his Hibernian squad despite the transfer having closed at midnight on Monday.
Hibs made a late bid for Plymouth midfielder Alan Gow on Monday, securing the 27-year-old on loan until the end of the season.
Hughes intended to add more players to his squad and will continue to pursue free transfers until the season ends.
"We made a few enquiries, but the door was slammed in our face on a number of occasions," Hughes told Hibernian TV.
Any new arrival is unlikely to be a right-back, despite some Hibs fans being keen for David Wotherspoon to be pushed forward into a more attacking role.
But Hughes is still confident new players can be attracted to Easter Road.
"Window closes, it does not mean that there are not other players out there," said Hughes.
"I would imagine that there are a lot of players now who have freedom of contract, so we'll still be looking at that.
"David Wotherspoon has done very well for us there all season and who is to say he can't continue to do that until the end?"
Meanwhile, Hibs have confirmed that under-19 defender Callum Booth has joined team-mate Ewan Moyes on loan at Arbroath until the end of the season.
