McGregor had six shut-outs in a row with St Johnstone

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has expressed his anger at the signing of veteran Dutchman Ronald Waterreus.

Boss Alex McLeish signed the 34-year-old from Manchester City after Stefan Klos was ruled out until the summer.

And 22-year-old McGregor said: "I am raging and rightly so. I feel that they don't have any confidence in me.

"I think I am just a cheap option for Rangers behind Stefan Klos. I might play against Hibs next week, but I very much doubt it and I am hurting."

McGregor took over from Klos for Saturday's 3-0 win over Livingston and had been hoping to at last get a chance to prove himself in regular first-team action.

"My mind has been buzzing since I met the new goalkeeper at training on Monday," he said.

"The club say they want an experienced goalkeeper. I went on loan to St Johnstone, got experience and have come back a better player.

"Now, with Ronald Waterreus coming in, it looks as though they think I don't have enough experience."

McGregor is cup-tied for Wednesday's CIS Cup semi-final against Dundee United.

Rangers would have relied on 21-year-old Graeme Smith had they not signed Waterreus.

Smith had been on trial with United after being told he will not be offered a new contract when his present one ends in the summer.
