Bernt Haas in action for West Brom

Haas joined in July 2003

West Brom's transfer-listed defender Bernt Haas has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 26-year-old Swiss international last played for Albion on 18 December.

"Bernt has been a good servant to the club but I put Martin Albrechtsen and Riccy Scimeca before him in his position," said manager Bryan Robson.

"We also have Cosmin Contra who can play on the right and for Bernt's international future I feel he needs first-team football."

Robson added: "We wish Bernt all the best for the future."

Haas joined WBA from Sunderland for 400,000 in July 2003.

The defender scored three times in 52 games, but has struggled for first-team football this season.

But this season Haas has struggled to hold down a regular starting place in Albion's side - making just ten appearances.

Since taking over as manager in November, Robson has been trimming the size of the Albion squad and Macedonia captain Artim Sakiri remains on the transfer list.
