Councils have new leaders for 1946,
following the elections of mayors
Alderman E. A. Primrose was el-
ected Mayor of Ermington-Rydalmere,
with Alderman G. F. Kendall as
At Blacktown, Councillor J. A.
Fyall was chosen as Shire President.
Councillor A. L. Francis was elected
Many tributes were paid to the
retiring president, Councillor T. R.
Stone, who did not seek re-election.
His seven consecutive terms was a
Councillor A. T. Currie was elected
president of Baulkham Hills Shire,
with veteran Councillor Arthur Whit-
ling as deputy Councillor W. H.
Bruce was not a candidate, because
of pressure of business. He was re-
cently elected as chairman of the
Alderman J. R. Calov was elected
Mayor of Granville, with Alderman
W. D. Stockwell as deputy.
There were no major changes in
other elections, which resulted as
Parramatta: Alderman P. H. Jef-
fery (seventh consecutive term);
deputy, Alderman H. M. Symonds,
Holroyd: Alderman G. E. Maunder
(eighth consecutive term, and a re-
cord for the municipality); deputy,
Dundas: Alderman E. A. Mobbs;
deputy, Alderman J. E. Carnall.
Lidcombe: Alderman C. W. Phil-
lips (13th term); deputy, Alderman
Aubun: Alderman A. Kerr; dep-
James Allan Campbell (80), of Sta-
tion Street, Harris Park, died at his
residence on Saturday. He had resided
at Parramatta for many years. The
funeral left the parlors of Metcalfe and
Morris Pty. Ltd., Parramatta, on Mon-
day, for the Western Road Cemetery,
Mrs. Sarah Kezia Staples (77), of
Ross Street, Parramatta, died at her
residence on Saturday. Her husband
pre-deceased her. She leaves three sons
and two daughters. The funeral left
the chapel of Metcalfe and Morris Pty,
Ltd., Parramatta, on Monday, for the
Church of England Cemetery, Punch-
