A meeting of the finance committee of th«
Waverley Council was held last night, when Mr.
John Clubb, an ex-alderman of Balmain, was
elected to the vacant post of council clerk. There
were 244 applicants for the position. The first
ballot reduced the number to 39, and finally Mr«
Clubb was elected unanimously.
