Proclamation by His Excellency The
Right Honourable Charles Robert,
Baron Carrington, a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honourable Privy
Council, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and SaintGeorge,Governor and
Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of
New South Wales and its Dependencies.
WHEREAS the Municipalities Act of 1867 provides for
the constitution of a Municipality on receipt of a
Petition signed by not fewer than fifty persons who would
upon incorporation be liable to be assessed for Municipal taxes
in respect of property, or household residence within the area
proposed to be so incorporated: And whereas a Petition
signed by one hundred and sixty-one persons liable to be so
assessed upon such incorporation has been received by the
Governor, praying for a Municipality, to be styled the "Borough
of Dundas": And whereas the substance and prayer of such
Petition have been duly published in the Government Gazette
and otherwise, in accordance with the said Act: Now,
therefore, I, Charles Robert, Baron Carrington, the
Governor aforesaid, in pursuance of the provisions of the said
Act, and with the advice of the Executive Council, do, by this
my Proclamation, declare that the area hereinafter described
shall be and the same is hereby constituted a Municipality,
under the name and style of the " Borough of Dundas," viz.
County of Cumberland, parish of Field of Mars, area about
7 2/5 square miles, as shown on sketch map of the Municipality
of Dundas, in the Local Government Office, and described as
follows: Commencing on the left bank of the Parramatta River
at its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Borough of
Parramatta, as proclaimed 27th November, 1861; bounded
thence by part of that boundary northerly to the centre of the
road from Parramatta to Kissing Point; thence by a line along
the centre of that road easterly to a point in the southerly pro
longation of a line along the centre of Bettington's-lane, which
lane divides portions 1-27 and 28 of the Rock Farm subdivision
from Robert Goodin's portion of 40 acres ; thence by that pro
longation and line north to a point in the south-easterly pro
longation of a line along the centre of the road which divides
portion 13 from portion 14 of the Palmer Estate ; thence by
that prolongation and line north-westerly to the centre of the
road which divides portions 13, 4, 3, 2, and 1 from portions 12,
11,10, 8, 7, and 5 of the last-mentioned estate ; thence by lines
along the centre of that road north-easterly and north-westerly,
and the north-westerly prolongation of the last line to the
centre of the Pennant Hills Road ; thence by lines along the
centre of that road and the prolongation of the last line
generally north-easterly to the centre of the road from Pennant
Hills Wharf to Wiseman's Ferry; thence by a line along the
centre of that road north-westerly to a point in the south
westerly prolongation of a line along the centre of the road to
Carlingford Station, which passes through J. Milson's portion
of 115 acres, and partly forms the south-eastern boundary of
allotment V. of Mobbs' Estate; thence by that prolongation and
line and its continuation north-easterly to the centre of the
road which divides Brushgrove Estate from J. Milson's 115
acres aforesaid ; thence by a line along the centre of that road
north-westerly to a point in the south-westerly prolongat on of a
line along the centre of the road dividing allotments 1,2, and an
allotment of 20 acres 1 rood 9 perches of the Brushgrove Estate,
William Mobbs' portion of 36 acres 1 rood 14 perches from
J. Dorman's portion, portion W.X., G. Mobbs' portion of 22
acres 2 roods 36 perches, J. Stephenson's portion of 21 acres
3 roods 27 perches, and allotments 26, 27, 28, and 29 from
allotments 22, 23, 24, 25, and 13 of the Devlin's Estate;
hence by that prolongation and line and its continuation
north-easterly to the centre of the Railway line from Sydney
to Newcastle; thence by a line along the centre of that Railway
line south-easterly and southerly to a north-west boundary of
the Municipal District of Ryde, as proclaimed 11th June, 1872 ;
thence by part of that boundary south-westerly and by a south
western boundary south-easterly and south-westerly to the left
bank of the Parramatta River aforesaid ; thence by that river
upwards, to the point of commencement.
Given under my Hand and the Seal of the Colony,
at Government House, Sydney, this twenty-third day
of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-nine, and in the fifty-second
year of Her Majesty's Reign.
