A special meeting of tho aldermen, of. the

Aorougli Council of Waverlcy was held last

evening In the council-chambers. A full

council was present, and Alderman AV. Car

ter, J.P. (Mayor) presided. 'The 'business ot

,tho meeting wus tlie election of Mayor. Al

derman W. J. Blunt proposed, and Alderman

Carter, .T.P.. be re-elected Mayor. The mo

tion was ably supported liy Aldermen Hurley, .

Roberts, Ellison, ,and Terry, and' on. being

put was carried unanimously. The Mayor, on

vising, thanked the counoll for the confidence

.reposed In him, and proceeded to give nn out

line of the past year's work of the borough.

The council tlien rose, and the Mayor-elect

invited the aldermen to ft light repast, when

the following toasts were proposed; — "The

Ring1," "The Mayor-elect," "The Newly-eleer-

ed Aldermen," "The Retiring Aldermen,"

"TPhe Officers," and, finally. "Tho Press."
