Stewart Francis: Pun Gent 4**** - One4Review (original) (raw)

| On 27, Aug 2015

Most people will have seen Stewart Francis on TV on the likes of ‘Mock the Week’ and be aware of his style as a one liner comic who relies heavily on puns and misdirection of his audience with his art form.

As one would imagine it is an hour packed to the gunnels with his puns, and although not everyone is a classic, I reckon that he has around 150 of these squeezed into his hour so if you are not a fan of one gag there will be another along very quickly.

Francis has intimate knowledge it seems about local geography even going as deep as a caravan park, he even gets the audience singing along with a Scottish ditty, occasionally seeking audience input, but beware, he’s leading into more of his subtle material.

This is not the first time I have seen him perform, but it is the first time in a big room. Previous times the intimacy of a smaller venue in my opinion is better suited to his performances. That said it is a lovely show with plenty of laughs, a few groans and a general feeling of time well spent.
