X-Men: First Class wallpaper: the cross we bear

So, I made this for someone on the Fall Fandom Free-For-All, but I can't for the life of me work out who. Major fail! I went to check out what size they wanted, and realised I hadn't saved their request. And skimming down the pages, I can't find it. Oops.

So, mystery Charles/Erik fan, this is for you! It's widescreen, 1680 x 1050, so should fit most widescreen monitors. Click the thumbnail for the full size image.

Rec/DVD commentary/Fic Master List/Wallpapers

fandom: rectify life is not a paragraph

oxoniensis

August 13th, 2008

A quick post, because I have a baked potato nearly crisp enough to eat, and I'm STARVING!

First, a rec for Dean/Rory fans: Sundrenched World by meltingconfetti [Gilmore Girls, Dean/Rory, vid]. Actually, while you're there, click on her rory&dean tag for more vids and Dean/Rory picspam, and revel in the sweetness!

Second, this is me saying I'm very happy for anyone to pick any of my stories to write a DVD commentary for dvd_commentary. By 'very happy' I mean I'd be ecstatic if anyone chose to!

Second and a bit, because it's related to the previous thought, I've given up on updating my fiction website for the time being (coding, loathe it) so I've done a fic master list. It goes back to the beginning of 2004; I had to stop there because the post was getting too big for LJ, but honestly, there's very little from 2003 – the year I started writing – worth reading (and the earlier stories are all on my website anyway). Actually, I'd treat most things from my first few years of writing with caution! Though I did find a few early stories that didn't make me wince to reread, so I count that a win.

Third, here are a couple of wallpapers, Brideshead Revisited and Pushing Daisies – without lazy_daze around to get me writing, I'm reduced to opening Photoshop far more than I should!

And a few icons. Very miscellaneous: Brideshead Revisited, Shelter, NCIS, Psych, Gilmore Girls, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, Young Americans, Eureka, Pushing Daisies, Iron Man and Dark Knight.

Porn Battle VI roundup/The Dark Knight Wallpaper/What About Bob?

August 7th, 2008

Crazy week – need a break from real life, or real life to give me a break, either would work for me!

Porn Battle VI update – sorry, no fancy stats or anything this time. At a quick count, though, there were about 580 stories, pieces of art and vids in 152 fandoms, plus bandom and real person fiction, plus a few fandoms only represented in crossovers. And there were also 73 extended/bonus versions. Wow!

The website is up-to-date, with all the entries sorted by fandom for easy browsing.

I did a bit of counting: not including crossovers, RPF trounced the rest with 35 entries, followed by Bandom (31), Stargate Atlantis (30) and Supernatural (27). Stargate SG-1 and NCIS made a good show with 23 entries each, and Lost was close behind with 21. And we had some really prolific authors – seven with a two figure number of entries. Well done xdawnfirex (20!), raedbard (16), madkrazyghetto and burntsm0re (15), joanne_c (14), black_eyedgirl (12) and scoob2222 (11). I'm crossing my fingers I (a) counted right and (b) didn't leave anyone off the list!

Hope to see you all again in January!

I keep forgetting to post this – here, have a Dark Knight wallpaper.

I love days like today. Days that start with a leisurely coffee and croissant while I'm curled up on the sofa in the sun. And that continue with some dry slope skiing, with a wet and (relatively) fast slope. Days when the sun isn't warm, but is cheerful just the same. And best of all, days when I don't have to go into work!

I've made wallpapers. One Firefly/Serenity River wallpaper (no spoilers for the movie). One Supernatural, because even though I still don't have even the slightest desire to watch the show, the boys are pretty, and I like playing with pretty boys. And one Jarhead, just because I stumbled on some promo pictures, and I like promo pictures.

Also, icons. 7 Supernatural, and 2 Smallville (images from Exposed):

Lyrics are from Aeroplane Flies High by 'The Smashing Pumpkins'. Please do NOT hotlink this wallpaper, or post it as your own work - both have been happening far too often lately!

The Boxer Rebellion ~ Kiss the Girls (This is the yousendit file, so click on this one).

The Boxer Rebellion ~ In Pursuit (wmv video - in a zip file, ~ 12MB).

Now for the random selection:

The Smashing Pumpkins ~ Blank Page. I love this song, so very much.

The Owls ~ Air. This is a sweet little song, rather summery and pretty.

The Frames ~ Finally. From the 'Burn the Maps' album. I particularly like the vocals on this - they remind me of someone, but I can't think who.

Kasabian ~ Processed Beats. It's all about the beat.

Le Tigre ~ On The Verge. Sexy, angry girl!

Puccini ~ La Boheme, Quando Men Vo (sung by Anna Netrebko). Not my favourite Puccini aria, but I do love to wallow in La Boheme.

The Magnetic Fields ~ Take Ecstacy With Me. This band always make me laugh. It's from their 69 Love Songs album, and they're the most inventive set of love songs ever.

If you find anything here that you particularly like, let me know, it makes me happy.

Now I need to go and start packing. Be good while I'm gone! See you all next week.

ETA: My email is fixed (I turned the computer off, then on again - worked a treat!)

I had a very productive night! Insomnia has its up sides! I made myself a new journal layout with pretty lounging Draco, Harry and TW (though I shall return to stopawhile's glorious Clex layout from time to time) and a Draco icon to match. I just need to work out how to add links to the top of the page, and more importantly, how to get rid of the irritating little white line by the side of the date.

I also made a Harry Potter wallpaper, finally finished the Faith wallpaper that's been hanging around forever and updated the icon and wallpaper pages on my site. I even started an Angel/Spike snippet, some Sports Night sporty banter and a Harry/Draco story. And I managed to totally ignore the urgent jobs list stuck prominently on my computer! Even the ones marked with bright pink highlighter. I score very high on procrastination.

I also made a couple of icons based on the HP wallpaper (ilexa - you still looking for an HP icon?) which are up for sharing. Just leave a comment if you want to use either of them.

(The HP screencaps are from teh_indy, and brush and stock photo credits are here. The text on the Harry Potter wallpaper is from 'Never let me down' and the Faith text is from 'Hummer', both by The Smashing Pumpkins. I did the sensible thing and downloaded Mozilla a few days ago. Now I'm just waiting longingly for it to be safe to return to IE. I'm in the mood for familiar and easy right now, and I miss IE. Does anyone have any news on the progress of a fix for the virus?

It's nice to be able to access my friends list and make comments again. I just wish email notifications hadn't been fucked up instead. I've found a few replies and answered them, but now I'm worrying that there are others that I've not found. So, if I've not replied to a comment that clearly requires an answer, and it's more than a day or two old, let me know, ok?

I made a Smallville pilot wallpaper ages ago, when I was first learning how to do masks. I never posted it, because it was just a practice piece, but I took a look at it today, and, though it's technically no great shakes, it's quite pretty, so here it is.

Click here for full size wallpaper

I also made a Young Americans wallpaper around the same time. It has even less artistic merit, but it's YA and is full of the pretty, so for the YA fans around, that one's here.

They're both 1024x768, but I can make 800x600 versions if anyone wants them.

I've decided that if I'm going to Special Hell, I may as well go in style, and go to the hottest, most hellish part. Hence the icon I'm using, which is my version of a barely legal Draco/Harry. If you want to join me, there are several different versions of the icon behind the cut.

( I solemnly declare that I'm up to no goodCollapse )

All the icons are for sharing. No need to ask if you want any, just leave a comment.

One of the pictures is from aotearoagal, the other I'm not sure - kattiya maybe? So they're partly to blame for my descent into the depth of Hades.... Brush and texture credits for the wallpapers and icons are here.
