Skill trees, dialog choices, and character customization abound.

So, we didn't like Aliens: Colonial Marines. Nor did most other people. But what if there had been another Aliens game entirely? What if Obsidian had made an RPG in the Aliens universe? Well, thanks to this leaked footage that Reddit user Wild_Marker found of a very early prototype of Aliens: Crucible, we're lucky enough to see more or less what that would have looked like.

Now, this is obviously extremely early footage. The UI, animations, and low-res textures are all obviously in there as placeholders, so this is in no way indicative of what it could have become.

However, we've got a look at skill trees, dialog choices, and tons of character customization. It's certainly an Obsidian game, and I think that could be rather cool. My dream Aliens game would involve permadeath, with your squadmates dropping and never coming back. Could you imagine the terror brought by losing a character that you've been talking to, leveling up, and gaining more and more of a connection with?

What do you guys think about this early footage? Is this something that you would have been interested in if it hadn't been cancelled?
