This series began outside of any regular event, when I made a post about "The Macroeconomics of Middle-Earth" with regards to Smaug, and my audience discussed the implications. I wound up posting an outline of events in which several dragons attacked different cities and a refugee camp. Then I looked at that and realized, nobody has really written about a fantasy world devastated by a sudden cluster of dragon attacks. The focus is usually a single attack and the response of heroic characters. But what happens if there are many attacks, and all the heroes die?
This setting contains six humanoid races, plus the dragons who are also sentient. There are no humans, dwarves, elves, or other standard fantasy races. Each of the humanoid races correlates to two of the four elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) and that influences the traits they have. The dragons are all one species, although they have different color phases (red, blue/green, bronze, black) depending on which elements they favor. Dragons can enter a dormant state, individually or collectively, and when a lot of them awaken at the same time, you get A Conflagration of Dragons ...
