Bears bring back Aromashodu - NBC Sports (original) (raw)
As expected, the Bears on Monday offically have added Tony Fiammetta, and they’ve offically released 2012 fourth-round pick Evan Rodriguez.
As not expected, the Bears also brought back receiver Devin Aromashodu.
Aromashodu spent two seasons with the Vikings after two seasons with the Bears, which came after two seasons with the Colts. His contract with Minnesota expired in March, and he previously had received little or not interest on the open market.
By waiting until June, the Bears were able to add the free agent without the move counting toward Chicago’s or Minnesota’s net free-agent gains and losses for compensatory draft purposes.
Aromashodu has spent his career as a secondary player, with a career-best 26 catches for 468 yards coming in 2011 with Minnesota. He caught only 11 passes for 182 yards last season.
The Bears also added receiver Jerrell Jackson and released receivers Demetrius Fields and Dale Moss.
