SEGA Sues Fox and EA - IGN (original) (raw)

According to a Reuters report today, SEGA of America has filed a lawsuit against Fox Entertainment, Electronic Arts, and developer Radical Games Ltd., claiming that The Simpsons Road Rage infringes on a SEGA patent.
The lawsuit centers on Road Rage's apparent similarity to SEGA's Crazy Taxi, which features picking up fares and performing zany, over-the-top driving stunts to get them to their destinations as quickly as possible. Road Rage features similar game play, to the point where some reviews commented negatively on the parallels.

SEGA's "138 patent" is associated with the Crazy Taxi concept. SEGA is requesting that The Simpsons Road Rage sales cease and that copies be removed from store shelves. SEGA is also asking for damages related to apparent lost profits.
