Two of the biggest rages in Japan have united to do some stellar product promotions.

At the Tokyo Game Show, Square announced that it has agreed to collaborate with Coca-Cola in producing some product promotional television spots. Final Fantasy IX is set to appear in some Coca-Cola television commercials that have been produced in full CG by Square in Japan.The computer-generated commercials will feature characters in Final Fantasy IX drinking and endorsing Coca-Cola products. In addition to the commercial, the characters will also be used in other printed advertisements and media. The promotional campaign began airing March 6, 2000, and the new commercials should being appearing in the oncoming weeks.

The tie-up between Coca-Cola, a global brand, and Final Fantasy with a total of 26 million users globally is expected to produce bigger promotional effects than a mere merchandise tie-up would. Final Fantasy IX is scheduled for release on July 19, 2000, but its characters will appear in the TV commercials before the game hits store shelves. The commercials present an entirely original story in full CG conveying Coca-Cola's brand message while making effective use of the world and characters of Final Fantasy IX. Final Fantasy characters will also make appearance as figures used for prizes in the campaign and premiums over the counter.

TV Commercial's Story
The scene is a square of a certain street appearing in Final Fantasy (FF) IX. The Crown popping out of a Coca-Cola bottle implies "Enjoy," and Zidane, one of the FF heroes, runs after the "Enjoy." But the Crown dodges Zidane's hands and bounces around the square. Soon joined by Vivi, a wizard, and Steiner, a knight of the royal family, the square is thrown into an uproar. The Crown wrapped in glittering carbonic acid grains of Coca-Cola transforms the scene of the street, plants and even the figures of people one after another with his shining magic. And at last, the Crown of Coca-Cola brings about the moment of supreme "Enjoy" all over the square while the FF heroes are watching.

"All to you TSU-NA-GA-RU! Coca-Cola."
