KELLER'S TNA IMPACT REPORT 12/3: Dixie Carter interview, Raven & Stevie vs. Angle, Foley obsesses about Hogan, Kristal talks for Bobby (original) (raw)

KELLER'TS TNA IMPACT REPORT DECEMBER 3, 2009 AIRED ON SPIKE TV TAPED IN ORLANDO, FLA.

[Q1]

-A video package aired on the Mick Foley jealousy of Dixie Carter's relationship with Hulk Hogan. The show's title was then revealed: "Sexy's Got a Secret."

-After the TNA Impact opening, Mike Tenay introduced the show and hyped that TNA President Dixie Carter would reveal details of how Hulk Hogan, Sting, and Jeff Jarrett fit into TNA right now. They showed an image of all three on the screen.

-Desmond Wolfe stood mid-ring and talked about Kurt Angle, calling him "Mr. Mangled" repeatedly. He bragged about reading him like a book last week. He said he has had enough fun with him, so "now I end you." He said at Final Resolution, he'll have a match called "Three Degrees of Pain." He called the fans "window-lickers." You've got to love British insults. It's a best of three falls match with the first ending by pinfall, the second by submission, and the third if necessary by escaping the cage. He asked Angle to hobble to the ring and he'd explain anything he didn't understand. He called him "thumb head." Angle walked onto the stage with mic in hand.

Angle said if there's one thing he's learned from him lately, it's to always be prepared if he's in the arena. He said he's in his wrestling gear, but he's not sure why he doesn't go to the ring to kick his ass right now. He dropped the mic and walked to the ring. Taz said Wolfe locked himself in the cage. Angle couldn't get through the door, so he climbed into the cage. Wolfe moved toward Angle, but Angle knocked him down with an uppercut. Wolfe put on brass knuckles and KO'd an unsuspecting Angle with them. He then lifted Angle and threw him into the side of the cage. (Which has six sides!) The crowd taunted Wolfe with a chant of "You're a wanker." Wolfe pulled a key out of his pocket and unlocked the cage door to leave. [c]

-Jeremy Borash asked Mick Foley backstage in his office if he's called Dixie. Foley said she hasn't returned his calls. He worried that "Beefcake" will be sitting in his chair and "Knobs" will be holding the mic. (They're playing to such a small crowd with these inside jokes. Does the audience TNA is trying to hook on the product really have knowledge of Knobs being a crony of Hogan? It's not like the average fan would know that. Same with the extent to which Brutus Beefcake is Hogan's crony. It's such a clever waste of time.) Angle barged in and insisted Foley book him against Wolfe. Foley said it's in his contract that he can book matches, so he's got it as long as he tells him what he knows about the Hogan-Dixie agreement. Angle told Foley to get over Hogan. He said he's jealous of Hogan.

[Q2]

1 -- DOUG WILLIAMS (w/Brutus Magnus, "Red Flag" Rob) vs. ALEX SHELLEY w/Chris Sabin)

Magnus punched Sabin at ringside before the match. Shelley took early control of the match. Shelley scored an early two count after a top rope crossbody block. Williams made a comeback and used a low blow. Shelley, though, avoided a corner charge seconds later and made a comeback with a series of kicks. Taz called a round kick by it's proper name. It still amazes me that announcers who take pride in knowing the names of holds made famous in Mexico or Japan never took ten minutes out to learn the difference between a round kick, hook kick, wheel kick, side kick, thrust kick, scissors/axe kick, and front kick, which covers just about every variation of karate kick that wrestlers use. Shelley finished Williams with a sidekick to the head and the Sliced Bread.

WINNER: Shelley in 4:00.

STAR RATING: * -- Practically a marathon for an hour-one Impact match.

-They went backstage to The Pope talking to Suicide backstage. He asked him to hear him out. He asked him to the fourth partner in his team with Matt Morgan and Hernandez. Suicide he may have earned the trust of others, but his trust comes at a higher price. Pope tried to win over Suicide by showing him that kept a part of a broken table from one of their battles. He signed the back.

-They showed a clip of Dixie Carter's estate and her and Tenay walking around chatting. [c]

-Foley talked to D-Lo Brown backstage. Foley said he knows he mentors a lot of the guys backstage and he can sway their opinion of Hogan. D-Lo said Hogan has done nothing but treat him well. D-Lo said the word on the street is that Dixie and Hogan teamed up to help TNA. "It's a sun-shiny day," Foley said sarcastically.

2 -- SUICIDE vs. HOMCIDE

Taz and Tenay talked about Suicide's motivation to take out Homicide because he "knows his secret."

[Q3]

Some decent back and forth action throughout, ending with a Suicide backslide after avoiding the Gringos Killer.

WINNER: Homicide in 4:00.

STAR RATING: *

-Mid-break, they showed ODB getting mic'd up for her "Trash Talking" segment. The camera focused on her cleavage.

-Tenay and Taz were shown on camera as they hyped what was coming up later on the show. They began with the Dixie interview plug. Oh, and it stopped there, too. That's what's upcoming.

-ODB interviewed Tara on her "Trash Talking" show. ODB said she came from WWE as a Diva and asked her if she thinks she can instantly be a TNA Knockout. ODB said they've worked seven years to build the division and now she thinks she can sleep her way to the top. Tara said she came to TNA after breaking her contract with WWE which had two years left. She was on the verge of crying and said she worked her butt off to get to where she is in TNA. She said she was humiliated being a trainer for the Barbie Dolls (in WWE) and she didn't want to be remembered for wearing a sumo suit. ODB stood up and said she understood, but then she slapped Tara and jumped her. She was pulled away, but kept yelling at Tara, saying she's still a "Diva" to her and a "has-been." [c]

[Q4]

3 -- JESSE NEAL vs. THE POPE

Neal has his hair in a spiked mohawk and wears wrestling trunks now. He also has a lot of arm tattoos. Taz and Tenay talked about his amazing transformation into Shannon Moore. Taz said Team 3D told him they repackaged Neal. Tenay said it's not just his look, it's also his attitude. Neal was aggressive throughout and dominated until 3:00 when Pope quickly turned the momentum and scored with is DDKnee finisher for the win. Taz said Neal looked good in losing. Neal tackled Pope afterward. The lights went out briefly and then Suicide appeared on the top rope. He hit Neal with a dropkick. Pope stood up and seemed surprised to see Suicide. Suicide offered a handshake. Pope accepted. The fans applauded, but then Team 3D, Neal, and Rhino surrounded them. Hernandez and Matt Morgan ran out for the save.

WINNER: Pope in 3:00.

-Tenay once again plugged his "exclusive interview" with Dixie Carter. They teased viewers with Tenay asking Dixie what Hogan's role in TNA will be. [c]

-Mid-commercial they showed Kevin Nash and Eric young standing backstage as Tenay and Taz plugged their tag match up next.

-A soundbite aired with Hogan talking about taking TNA to no. 1 with the help of the fans.

4 -- ERIC YOUNG & KEVIN NASH vs. BEER MONEY INC. (James Storm & Robert Roode)

This began with three minutes left in the first hour. Tenay told Taz he talked about more than Hogan in his interview with Dixie. He said he even asked about Sting and Jeff Jarrett. Taz reacted with surprise and shock that he'd talk about Jarrett.

[Q5]

When Nash tagged in for the second time at 3:00, Taz said TV doesn't do Nash's size justice. At 5:00 Storm hot-tagged in. Seconds later four-way action broke out. Roode knocked Nash out of the ring after a neckbreaker. Storm then scored a near fall on Young. Nash grabbed Storm's foot as he stomped the mat to signal his superkick. Young then gave Roode a piledriver for the win.

WINNER: Nash & Young in 6:00.

STAR RATING: *

-Foley walked toward the ring after the match. He told Nash he knows who Hulk is bringing with him and what he's doing in TNA. He said he's known Nash for 18 years, and while they aren't best friends, they've shared some road stories and laughs "and a couple pretty damn good matches." He asked him to tell him exactly what Hogan is up to. He told Foley he shouldn't have bought TNA stock, but rather invested in a haircut and suit because he'll be looking for work soon. Nash said Foley has a squeaky clean reputation, but he's acting paranoid. Nash told Foley to call Hogan. Foley asked if he has his number. Nash said he has it, but Hogan asked him not to give it to him. Nash told Foley he's an engaging fellow, but he's got old bandmates who are practicing and he's thinking of putting the band back together again. [c]

-Bobby Lashley and Kristal walked to the ring together. Tenay said Lashley earned a TNA Title shot due to his tourney win last week, but first he gets a rematch against Scott Steiner. Lashley opened by saying, "Steiner, I have nothing to say to you. Not one single word. I will do all my taking at Final Resolution." Kristal then took the mic and said she'll do the talking. She called Steiner "sick, delusional, and obsessed." She said all she wanted to do was watch her husband wrestle, not be part of it. She said she had never been harassed or disrespected by anyone at Bobby's MMA fights. She said Scott has forced her husband's hand and he will not be held responsible for what he does to him. "When I bark, that man over there bites," she said. "At Final Resolution, the big dog is going to eat you for lunch.

-Lauren interviewed Daniels backstage. He said he asked for something and he got it without being slapped down - a title shot against A.J. Styles at Final Resolution. Daniels told Styles to watch his upcoming match, which will be a preview of what's in store for him at Final Resolution. Lauren asked if he shouldn't be concentrating on Abyss. Daniels said she and Abyss really deserve each other.

-They showed Dixie being mic'd for her interview.

[Q6] [c]

5 -- DANIELS vs. ABYSS

Styles joined Tenay and Taz at ringside. He sent word out to Sting, telling him he doesn't know what's up with him since he hasn't returned his calls. He said he's down a friend this year already so he wants a call just to know he's okay. Daniels shot a look at Styles on his way to the ring. Styles decided to leave the broadcast table at that point. Daniels failed with an early single-leg takedown. Taz laughed at his strategy. Abyss outpowered Daniels to the mat with a wristlock. Daniels ran from Abyss, but Abyss chased him at ringside. Abyss controlled the match back in the ring, including a corner splash. When he set up a Black Hole Slam, Daniels pointed him toward the big screen where the Beautiful People confronted and harassed Lauren in the bathroom. Daniels then gave a distracted Abyss a low-blow and rolled him up for the win. Styles shook his head in disgust from the stage. Daniels called him to the ring. Styles took off his watch and began to walk to the ring, but the mystery man in black jumped him from behind.

WINNER: Daniels in 3:00. [c]

[Q7]

-Tenay and Taz were shown at ringside again. They plugged the line-up for the Dec. 20 "Final Resolution" PPV: Steiner vs. Lashley, Wolfe vs. Angle, and Styles vs. Daniels. Tenay then threw to his interview with Dixie.

-They showed the exterior of the Carter estate in Nashville, Tenn. He asked her about her rousing speech for the TNA roster. She said in her position, it's her duty to keep people focused and motivated. She said she wanted to make sure that "we were all there to accomplish the same thing, and that's to make TNA the biggest and the best wrestling company in the world." Tenay asked why the meeting aired on Impact. Dixie said she didn't want to at first, but she felt if it were filmed, it would hold everyone including herself. Tenay asked about Sting. She said she can't imagine TNA without him, but two weeks ago he said, "You just brought in Hulk Hogan." She said she told him, "What are you going to do about it?" She said him no-showing the interview surprised her, but she's giving him space so he can make the decision she hopes he makes, which is to stay. Tenay asked about the situation with Jarrett as it relates to the "present and future of TNA." Dixie said there was "a personal situation that affected the company and it put all of us in a very difficult position." She said Jeff was placed "on leave as both a talent and in his capacity with the company and I'd like to leave it at that."

Tenay said the partnership with Hogan "has been huge" for the organization. He asked how it started. She said she heard Hogan talking about TNA on radio interviews, and they had talked twice in the past, but it wasn't the right time before. He said recently they met at her house in that very room and talked for hours. "It just really felt right. I think we both left that afternoon's meeting knowing we were going to get this done and it was a very easy negotiation." Tenay asked what it means to TNA. She said he brings so much. She said TNA is a great company, but it needs more exposure. She said he's one of the most recognizable people on the planet and one of the greatest wrestling minds who has ever been. She said he's in such a great place so his contribution will be tremendous. Tenay asked what his role will be. Dixie said, "He will be working very closely with me in a variety of different capacities. We're going to be looking at every aspect of this company. There's no better wrestling mind for me to tap into and accomplish that. I'm very excited about what he's going to bring to the table."

Tenay asked where she sees TNA being in ten years. She said she looked into the eyes of the talent at the last meeting and realized they're all united in their goal to make TNA the biggest and best organization in the world. She said they're not trying to rerun history but make history. The closing line was: "In the coming days you'll exactly how serious we are about taking things to another level." [c]

-A soundbite aired with Hogan saying: "We are going to move forward at a rapid speed. This is going to be the biggest rise that anyone has ever seen in the professional wrestling business. We're taking this worldwide. This is going to be the largest momentum-shifting move anyone has ever seen in the history of professional wrestling. Breaking records, moving forward, setting new precedents. This is the time to be a TNA Hulkamaniac."

-Wolfe talked to Foley backstage. He said he helped him get into the door. He wondered why all Angle had to do was walk into his office and ask for a match with him and he made it happen. He asked if that's how it works around there. "I mean could I come in here and say, 'Hey, Mick, I want to be in a spelling bee with Scott Steiner,' and you're going to make it happen?" Foley said he won't be wrestling Angle tonight as he has other plans for him. Foley said he still has stroke around there. Then Foley called someone on speakerphone. He told this person who answered that things were falling apart and he needed him to put an end to the Hogan thing. The person told him to take his comedy and shove it up his ass. Foley said, "Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, it's Mick!" Tenay said that wasn't the reaction Mick expected "when he called the TNA founder." Taz wondered if that's who it was. Tenay said it sounded like him.

6 -- HAMADA vs. SARITA

Tenay plugged that more of the interview is available at the TNA website after Impact ends. Taz said he was impressed with the interview. Fast-paced action early.

[Q8]

Hamada won with the Hamada Driver. Taz noted that she has won two matches in a row against both Sarita and Taylor Wilde, the tag team champs.

STAR RATING: *1/4 [c]

-Borash interviewed Styles backstage, who was in a rage. He told the mystery man he has his attention. He yelled that he'll get his revenge the next time he tries to put his hands on him.

-Kurt Angle made his ring entrance. Foley came out and said he's putting him against Raven & Dr. Stevie instead of Wolfe. He said they may have burned him, but Angle burned him just as bad by questioning his authority.

7 -- KURT ANGLE vs. RAVEN & DR. STEVIE

Raven and Stevie beat up Angle for two minutes. Angle made a comeback clotheslined Stevie over the top rope to the floor. Raven caught Angle with a clothesline a few seconds later. Stevie retreated up the stage. Abyss caught him with a Black Hole Slam. With Raven distracted, Angle applied the ankle lock for the immediate tapout.

WINNER: Angle in 4:00.

-Afterward, Wolfe attacked an unsuspected Angle and then put on his sunglasses. Tenay said, "Desmond Wolfe strikes again."

Taz: "Suicide, Homicide... Maybe you can be Tenay-a-cide."

Taz: "Last week it was Thanksgiving. Tonight it's just Thursday."

Kevin Nash to Mick Foley: "Instead of buying TNA stock, you should have got yourself a decent haircut and suit because, my friend, in a couple of weeks they're going to come in handy because in a couple of weeks you'll be looking for a job."

Kevin Nash to Mick Foley: "You're acting as paranoid as a guy that's left an Amsterdam coffee shop for the first time."
