http://www.auth.gr/mirrors/python/doc/current/mac/ node5.html TeachText (MacOSX,certainly in 10.2, probably also 10.1) may not be an optimal editor but it allows to save scripts as text only: you may chose "New Document Attributes=plain text" in the Preferences.

Logged In: YES user_id=418324 Sorry: This concerns really TextEdit (mentioned in above node 5 Macintosh Library Modules 1.1.1 How to run a Python script ) which allows PlainText by prefs. The first versions on OS-10.0 probably did not (or I realized it only later). Problems with line endings should be solved in 2.3
