October 15, 2010 This is the third mermaid I made with my own pattern. I submitted this particular one to the Amigurumi 2012 Crochet Me Calendar Contest. When FadedLily sent me a square for the Baker’s Dozen swap in the Jewels colourway, I gushed over how much I loved it and lamented over the fact that I’ve never seen it in stores here. Well, when littleredyarn saw some in her local craft store, she offered to send me some. Naturally, I jumped on it! She sent me several skeins of the Jewels colourway, the first of which I used to make Jewelia here. littleredyarn is kinda awesome like that!

Jewelia is a wild mermaid who loves nothing more than to spend all day swimming in the deepest parts of the ocean, racing alongside schools of fish and dolphins. On rare occasions, she will breaches the surface of the ocean to gaze quietly at the moon for hours at a time.

October 29, 2010 I got an email earlier this week from the people at Crochet me and SHE’S A FINALIST!!! Emailed them the pattern and then mailed her off. Even if she doesn’t win WAY TO GO, JEWELIA!!!
