A peaceful gathering outside of the Pretoria High Court on Friday saw cannabis enthusiasts wield placards and sing in support of the legalisation of cannabis and the so called ‘dagga couple’ in their bid to legalise the herb.

The trial of the plant which was scheduled to end on Friday was postponed on the same day due to the plaintiffs legal team receiving thousands of new pages of evidence which were due at the end of March but only brought forward last week by the state and Doctors for life.
A new date will be given for the second leg of the trial of the plant.

Jules Stobbs said they believe that despite the state are using stall tactics and that despite the postponement, they have an upper hand in the first leg of the trial.
“With the massive amount of homework the defendants gave us as late evidence, it was impossible to read through it all and run primary evidence on the next witness,” said Stobbs.
“It gives us time to regroup, refinance and rejuvenate. We know what we are up against,” added Stobbs.
