What Package?

on March 11, 2025 at 1:33 am

Rowan and Brian have the conversation that they mentioned they would have here.

It’s not clear what’s in the package or why Fran and Olive have to jump through as many hoops to get it. At the moment, they’re happy that the pickup is in city limits.

A very happy 123rd birthday to Mr. Louis Armstrong!

You know, it’s embarrassing that for all the years I’ve been doing this I’ve never gotten around to doing Hello Dolly!

Let’s correct that with Louis and his All-Stars playing it live in 1965.

For this week’s rhapsody, we have a relatively new one, the Edel Rhapsody by Stephen Caudel.

I don’t think I’d even heard of the Wagner tuba before listening to this one. It sounds almost like a brass bassoon!

It’s been a while since I did Tuesday Rhapsodies. I freely admit that it was because I was scraping the barrel and was having trouble finding new ones. Just by sheer luck, I found that since my last search, Wikipedia had started a new list along with the main article. In the process, I found two new ones!

The first was Taras Bulba by Czech composer Leoš Janá?ek. If I ever heard of it before, I probably got it mixed up with one of the villains in Darkwing Duck.

Anyway, here it is performed by the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras.
