The internationally accredited Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to provide the university community with a full range of police and security services. Call University Public Safety:
To report a Police, Fire or Medical Emergency or Crime in Progress; please obtain an outside line and dial 911.

Professional Standards Division
Professional Standards is responsible for providing a myriad of critical services that support the mission and operations of the Rutgers Police Department. Support services include but are not limited to recruiting, pre-employment background investigations, investigating internal and citizen-generated complaints, accreditation, communications, training and professional development, and clery compliance.
