Education. Advocacy. Preservation.
These are the tools the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy uses to save Wright. Learn about what we do!
Preservation
We work directly with the stewards of Wright-designed buildings to support their ongoing preservation.
- We provide technical resources and assistance to help building stewards with maintenance, preservation, and restoration.
- We hold a number of preservation easements on Wright-designed buildings, the strongest form of legal protection.

Advocacy
We publicly make the case for preserving Wright’s legacy and the nearly 400 remaining buildings that he designed.
- When Wright-designed buildings are threatened, we mobilize for advocacy.
- Leading the effort to inscribe Wright on the World Heritage List reaffirmed Wright’s global significance.
We champion good stewardship as key to the preservation of Wright’s buildings.
- Preservation-minded buyers find Wright-designed buildings for sale on Wright on the Market, the only such listing service.
- Extraordinary efforts to preserve Wright’s legacy and buildings are recognized by our Wright Spirit Awards.
The Conservancy gets involved when buildings are threatened, and celebrates those who make extraordinary efforts to preserve them
Education
Educational programs and events build a community of passionate, informed advocates for the preservation of Wright’s nearly 400 extant buildings.
- Our Annual Conferences bring together preservationists, owners of Wright-designed houses, administrators of public sites, architects, scholars, restoration specialists, and design enthusiasts from around the world for five days of educational talks, tours, and celebrations.
- In order to encourage the next generation of preservation advocates, the Thorpe Fellows program funds graduate students and emerging professionals to attend the conference.
- There is no substitute for experiencing Wright’s buildings, many of which are not routinely open to the public, in person – an opportunity we provide at our spring Out and About Wright tour and other special events.
- Regular online talks by scholars, building stewards, and preservation professionals keep the Wright community connected to the latest in Wright scholarship and preservation.
Informational resources disseminate knowledge and advance scholarship about Wright’s buildings.
- Publications, including our twice-yearly SaveWright magazine and Wright Sites guidebook, inform the public and foster new scholarship.
- Our website includes a full list of Wright’s buildings, informative Preservation in Action posts, the interactive Wright Chat discussion forum, and much more.
- Our Digital Member Lounge, exclusively for members, contains an ever-growing archive of videos from our online events and past annual conferences.
