[Masuda x Tegoshi] Shooting Stars in Midwinter (original) (raw)
Disclaimer: Nope.
. xD So it's pretty much written quickly. ^^;; Forgive, hopefully.
“Massu, Massu! Look!” Five-years-old Tegoshi Yuya pointed up at the dark sky on Christmas Eve. Six-years-old Masuda Takahisa walked beside the younger boy and leaned onto the window pane. Massu’s eyes grew wider.“Mafuyu no nagareboshi.” Tegoshi and Masuda whispered as the two looked at each other. It seemed as if those shooting stars would forever fall together with the snow. Tonight was the last night they would be together. Masuda has to leave because of his father’s work. Ever since Tegoshi was a child, Masuda was already by his side.
“Promise me, Massu…” Tegoshi began. “When I turn 15… we’ll see each other again? And when I turn 20, we’ll be together?” The younger boy held out a pinky, ready to make the promise. Massu laughed. “That’s ten years, Tegoshi.” The five-years-old still held his pinky out, his face now serious. He raised it a little more. The older boy looked into the younger one’s eyes and saw the determination. He wasn’t just going to let a small move ruin their friendship. Masuda raised his own pinky and locked it together with Tegoshi’s.
“With this pinky swear, promise me that you will never forget me and that in ten years, we’ll see each other again. And when I turn 20, we’ll be together.” Tegoshi said. “Yes. I promise under the shootings stars, Tegoshi, that I will never forget you and that in ten years, we’ll see each other again. And when you turn 20, we’ll be together.” Tegoshi beamed and pecked Massu on his cheek.
The next day, Masuda left.
Ten years have passed and Tegoshi Yuya and Masuda Takahisa saw each other again in Jyannisu Jimusho. None of them remembered the other for their life became very busy that memory had no more space. Eleven months after Tegoshi had joined; the two were formed in the same group. Four years later, the two had perfect harmonization and blending and they debuted as a duo. How unfortunate was it that still, none remembered the little promise.
“Massu!” Tegoshi called out one day, during rehearsals for their next winter concert before a two-day Christmas break. The name slipped again. The youngest member of NEWS had already apologized once about calling the older one so casually, but he just couldn’t help it. His name kept rolling off his tongue like sweet honey. Soon, Massu never actually minded.
“Meet me outside the building tonight, before we head home?” Massu looked up from his katsudon. The older boy didn’t know what it was about, but it was Tegoshi and no one could say no to the boy.
Rehearsals passed by quickly and Massu was waiting outside the NHK building. Tegoshi went out ten minutes later. He didn’t even bother to explain. He just grabbed the _buta-chan_’s wrist and pulled him towards the park. No one was there anymore, it was peaceful and it was relaxing after a hard day’s work.
“I’ll just get us something to drink. Anything you want?” Massu offered as Tegoshi sat on the park bench. He asked for milk tea and Massu went. Fifteen minutes later, Massu returned with two cans. The younger boy smiled at the elder. Suddenly, something passed his eye. Tegoshi looked up at the sky.
“Massu, Massu! Look!” Twenty-years-old Tegoshi Yuya pointed up at the dark sky on December 23. Twenty one-years-old Masuda Takahisa just looked at the boy on the bench with eyes wide.
Tegoshi looked at the older boy, blinked, and cocked his head in question. Massu shook his head and walked beside the younger boy. He handed the milk tea to the other and drank his quickly. Together, under the night sky, they watched the shooting stars. Suddenly, something white, small and round started to fall together with the stars. It was snow.
“Mafuyu no nagareboshi.” The two said in unison. They looked at each other with wide eyes and then remembered. Fifteen years passed since their last childhood visit in each other’s house. The final day until they were separated.
“You broke your promise.” Tegoshi said as he scooted closer to Massu and wrapped his arms around the elder boy’s waist. Massu hugged Tegoshi in return and nuzzled his head on the younger boy’s shoulder. “I’m here right now, aren’t I? You just turned 20. Technically, I didn’t break my promise.”
Tegoshi moved and pouted. “But you said we’d meet when I turn 15, and we’ll be together when I turn 20.”
“But we did. I met you again when you entered the Jimusho, and now I’m guessing we’re officially going out.” Massu said as he laughed. Following the deep voice, Tegoshi laughed as well. “Don’t you think it’s odd that we have a song that’s entitled Mafuyu no Nagareboshi?”
"Not really… Mafuyu no Nagareboshi… Shooting stars during midwinter… I love the lyrics.” Tegoshi replied as he moved closer towards Massu. The older boy smiled widely and pecked the younger boy on his lips. “What was that for?” Tegoshi asked.
"I wished you happiness wherever you were. I wished to meet you anywhere. I wish your smiling face tonight.” Massu said, reciting the lyrics to their song.
Tegoshi hit Massu’s arm.
