Alignment to National Standards | Science Olympiad (original) (raw)

As an educator-founded and educator-focused organization, Science Olympiad strives to excel in both the classroom and out-of-school-time space with co-curricular activities designed to spur exploration, problem solving and creativity. Our Rules Committee Chairs and Committees work year-round to create a roster of events in middle school (Division B) and high school (Division C) that will enhance any school or district's educational mission. In 2015, we included alignment of our Elementary Club Lesson Plans, Grades 3-5 (Division A) to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Math and English Language Arts (ELA).

Visit this website to learn more about the NGSS. Information about the CCSS for Math and ELA can be found here.

Educators interested in how our Division B and Division C events align to the CCSS for Math are encouraged to read this Science Educator article on Math Alignment in Science Olympiad Events by Michelle Meadows, Tiffin University and Joanne Caniglia, Kent State University published in Spring 2018, Volume 28.
