Kondor-E 1 [NPO Mashinostroyeniya]
The Kondor-E is a small radar Earth observation satellite designed by NPO Mashinostroyeniya. It is built for a foreign customer, the military of South Africa under Project "Consolidated Flute". It is unclear, if South Africa holds the ownership of the satellite.
The Kondor satellite features a S-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which can conduct both continous swath surweys or detailed spot surveys. The swath width is 10 km. Ground resolution is 1-2 m in spotlight mode, 1-3 m in stripmap mode and 5-30 m in ScanSAR mode.
The prototype was called Kondor 1. A civilian version is the Kondor-FKA.
It was to be launched in 2013 on a Strela launch vehicle from the Baikonur cosmodrome, but the launch had slipped several times to a launch in December 2014.
