Bruce Photographic Collection

The entire collection consists some 1400 stereoscopic glass photographic negatives made on various expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic between 1899 and 1914. Also included are negatives of the Prince of Monaco's Arctic expedition on Princesse Alice, 1899, and the Scottish Arctic Expedition on Conqueror, 1909. Records for all the negatives are available via themanuscripts catalogue; go to thecollection level record for a complete overview of holdings. Please note that access to the original negatives is restricted owing to their fragility. The photographs displayed here have been produced digitally by the University's photographic media services from the negatives and are not available as original positives.

Papers of W.S. Bruce are held byEdinburgh University Library Special Collections (Gen. 1646-1669) and theScott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge (William Speirs Bruce Collection).
