Mary Chambers heads to MacLaren (original) (raw)
One week after announcing it hired Darren Clarke as its new CCO, MacLaren McCann has another addition to its C-suite.
Mary Chambers will be joining the agency as its new chief strategy officer, overseeing planning across all of MacLaren’s offices and disciplines, including its new data and analytics practice.
Chambers joins from Publicis Canada, where she was VP and national head of strategic planning, leading strategy for brands including Nestle, CIBC, WestJet, Rogers and Home Depot. She has also been a strategic planner at Y&R Toronto (working on the Robax, Advil, V8, Campbell’s Chunky Soup and Kool-Aid brands) and BBDO’s office in Warsaw, Poland (working on Snickers, Bounty, Pepsi, Dr. Oetker, Bayer and Daewoo brands).
Much like Clarke’s CCO position, Chambers is also coming into a new role at MacLaren with a national scope. When Clarke was hired, CEO David Leonard told strategy that giving him the CCO role was done in part to help his mission of creating unified leadership across the offices in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver. He says that same goal was at play bringing Chambers on in this role, and that her skill in generating new business was also a draw.
In April, it was announced that Leonard was leaving DDB to take over as CEO at MacLaren as Doug Turney prepared to leave his post as president and CEO to pursue other opportunities.
