This is an update.I was ready to start building 3.5.7, but I was having issues with it building on Karmic. Then 3.6 was released. So I started on that hoping that it will build easier, it hasnt. Adding to the delay is the fact that I have semester fianls this week. There is no time at all to figure this out this week. Swiftweasel will return with a new build, but its going to be delayed.

Version 3.5.5 is up on TuxFamily. There is a suprise for people who have a AMD K10 (Phenom) processor like I do.

I know its been awhile since Firefox 3.5.3 was released, so this is an update. I have finished the coding for Swiftweasel 3.5.3 and builds are building as I write this. Most of the Arch builds are up on TuxFamilyalready.

I got back into town and finished the 3.5.2 builds, they are up on Sourceforge and TuxFamily

I forgot to post here last week when I finished the 3.5.1 32bit Arch builds. They are done and on Sourceforge. I have the 2.0.0.22 Swiftdove builds finishing as I write this. What is new for both of these is a new low-pgo builds that should run even on the oldest hardware.Since Sourceforge updated the site it has become harder to add files and it takes a few days for the files to sync to all the mirrors. To make sure all files are available to everyone I have set up a release section for the project on tuxfamily. This will be for the current versions only with Sourceforge holding the new and older versions. Click here to visit the download area. I am also considering creating a mailing list for releases.

I have all but the 32bit Arch builds done. They wont build right. I also have given up on uploading to Sourceforge as the site is unusable at present. Uploading one file at a time through the browser sucks! and most of the time the upload stallsGo here to get Swiftweasel.

I have uploaded the 3.5 RC3 32bit Ubuntu builds, just after uploading the last I figured out my mistake.

I have uploaded what I have of 3.5RC 3 to Sourceforge. This time its the i386 Ubuntu builds that would not compile. Rather than hold what I have back, here it is. You can find the release notes here.

After doing a lot of research I learned that the gcc compiler in Arch is at version 4.4. This version has issues when compiling mozilla code. For a easy work around gcc 4.3 is in aur., and it compiled mozilla code just fine. Arch builds comming soon.

I have just finished uploading the 3.0.11 Ubuntu builds to Sourceforge. 3.0.11 is not building on Arch. I will continue to try and figure out why.

With Swiftweasel 3.0.10 builds done, I had a little free time. So I did a fast trunk build, 3.5b4 is up on Sourceforge.
April 28th 2009
Swiftweasel 3.0.9 builds are done and on Sourceforge. Just when I thought I was done for a little bit, 3.0.10 has been released.

A few updates1. Time is real short lately. I have gotten a lot of responcibility and a promotion in the last month. I feel as though I have no time even for myself. But I dont want to stop Swifteasel. I use the browser myself, as does my brother.2. I have moved away from Ubuntu on the advice of a friend (thanks Kilz). I love Arch! Its not for everyone, the install will be very very difficult for the average Ubuntu user.3. 3.0.8 64bit tarballs are up on sourceforge, 32bit to follow shortly.

Its going to take me a week to get used to putting 2009 on things. Well the holidays are over and back I got myself back in gear. The computer crash I mentioned on Dec 25 has had me doing some extra work. I had to recreate my local package mirror. I also had to add Intrepid, and mothball the Feisty Fawn builds. I really linked that version. The files are still on sourceforge. But repo space is limited. So the tarballs are done, the place to put the deb files exists, next is to build the deb files. Until then Intrepid users can install the slightly old swiftdove. It wont be long and next version will be faster.
Merry Christmas
I hope each and every one has a Merry Christmas. The Lord blessed me this year. I hope that everyone has also been blessed.

No I have not vanished. But life sometimes places other things in your path that need attention. I had galbladder surgery.I built 2 new computers because of an old one finaly giving up the ghost and my brother needed one.I needed a week to babysit a 16 year old who got suspended from school. But I am back. I am presently building 3.0.5 with half the builds done. Please forgive any bugs. But my oldest computer ( a pentium 3) died and replaceing the parts just wasnt worth it. So I invested in a new quad core system and passed the old ( 3 years old) down the line. During the rebuild of the build systems I reinstalled everything from scratch. Lucky for me I did have some things backed up on dvd. But its funny how loosing 4 months of work (from being lazy) when a hard drive fails adds more to a problem.

The 3.0.4 code has been released. I have a few first builds that look pretty good. It shouldnt be to long now.3.0.4 will have an Interpid Ibex build and I will be adding a section for Intrepid. Feisty Fawn is at end of life, there will not be 3.0.4 builds for Feisty, but the repo will remain open in case someone still runs Feisty.

On Oct 5th I released the 3.0.3 deb's and tarballs. Today there was one upgrade to the intel-pgo for i386 Hardy Heron. So far the rlease is looking good and issues seem to be small. I incurage everyone to upgrade thier installs.

I have just spent the last 4 days in the hospital with pancreatitis. I wouldnt wish it on anyone. Because of this there was a slight delay in the 3.0.3 release. I expect to have it ready by Sunday at the very latest.

Just to let everyone know whats going on. Right after Firefox 3.0.2 was released a bug was found in password handeling. I was in the middle of building the Swiftweasel 3.0.2 tarballs, in fact I only had one left to build. But now I have to start over. There is no sense to release the 3.0.2 with a serious flaw and then days later release 3.0.3. 3.0.3 will be the first pgo/processor optimized build. I have made some slight changes to the pgo build plan. There will be a amd and a intel pgo build. There will not be specific processor builds.

This is a catch up post to let everyone know whats going on.Mozilla has announced support for the 2.0.0.* series will end in December. Since I have not built a 2.0.0.* series build after 3.0 was released and no one has asked for the 2.0.0.16 build I am discontinuing the 2.0.0.* series a few months early. The 3.0.2 version will include a upgrade notice to those that are currently running the 2.0.0.15 client.I have desided, 3.0.2 will be the first PGO series. PGO is short for Profile Guided Optimization. There will be fewer builds, but the PGO improvements far outperform the prosessor improvements. There will still be some prosessor improvements. But there will not be specific builds for each prosessor. There is a 3.0.2 PGO release candidateavilable on the forum. I have a 64bit Hardy build and a 32bit is being built now as well as for Feisty and Gutsy.

I have fallen a little behind. I am currently working on Swiftdove 2.0.0.16 and after that I will be working on Swiftweasel 2.0.0.16. I am wondering exactly how many users of the Swiftweasel 2.0.0.* series are left. I am thinking of adding a link to a survy in the next upgrade notification.

I have just finished adding 3.0.1 debs to the repositories. I will be uploading them to Sourceforge next. I have also packaged the native theme in an installable package. It can be downloaded an installed by dragging it onto the add-ons window.

The release candidates for 3.0.1 are up. Click here for the anouncement on the forum.

I have started work on 2.0.0.15 for those still running the 2.0.0.* versions. The 2.0.0.* series will be continued until Mozilla stops development of the series or Dapper Drake (Ubuntu 6.06) reaches end of life. Whichever comes first.Version 3.0.1 is estimated to be released on 7/17 0r 7/18 depending on the release schedule of Mozilla. At present I am working on some Swiftweasel specific bugs that should be solved by then.
