The Hidden Cameras in collaboration with Rough Trade Records, today announce a 20th anniversary expanded reissue of our second album Mississauga Goddam to be released on October 11th 2024. The reissue features 4-track demos, b-sides and live session recordings. To mark the announcement of this reissue, a never before seen video of the band performing “High Upon The Church Grounds” live at Old Vic Chapel in Toronto is also being shared today. Also newly available today is an HD upgrade of the video for one of the singles from the album, “I Believe In The Good Of Life“.

Happy to announce an Oct 9 solo show in Graz at Orpheum Extra. The next day will see the Austrian premiere of Music is my Boyfriend: A Film about The Hidden Cameras October 10, 2024 at Filmcasino in Vienna. Joel Gibb will be in attendance and a short Q&A follows the screening. The film plays alongside another queer Toronto documentary She Said Boom: The Story of Fifth Column directed by Kevin Hegge. The next day, Oct 11, a full solo show will take place at Haus der Musik where Joel will play old and new songs. Get your tickets now!

Joel Gibb will exhibit art in Detroit at Kayrod Gallery as part of I’ll Be Your Mirror, A Biennial Exhibition devoted to LGBT art organised by Mighty Real / Queer Detroit. The opening is May 31 (4750 Woodward Ave). The exhibition runs until June 30.

Music is my Boyfriend: A Film about The Hidden Cameras directed by Robert Kennedy screens in Leipzig this month at the Queer Music Festival organized by Bouygerhl as a double program alongside the Peaches film Peaches Does Herself, in which Joel also has a small part!

Screening takes place 5:30pm, April 21 at Kinobar Prague Spring, House of Democracy Bernhard-Göring-Straße 152 / 04277 Leipzig

Joel will be joining John Cameron Mitchell and Amber Martin today at Joe’s Pub at 6:30 for their Cassette Roulette show. Expect to hear Joel sing “Boys of Melody” with some help from the hosts.

Joel Gibb has some Gay Goth Scene art with Paul P. at the Brooklyn Museum. It’s a huge group show about ‘zines called Copy Machine Manifestos. The opening is Nov 17 at 7pm.

Dublin! This Saturday! Film screening and live performance. MUSIC IS MY BOYFRIEND (Irish Premiere at Gaze Film Festival) Saturday 5th August, 15:15 at the Lighthouse Cinema. In collaboration with Foggy Notions following the GAZE film screening, Joel will perform an intimate live show at the Workman’s Cellar at 8pm.

Back in April we had the privilege of playing a Brodie Session in Copenhagen. Owen and Joel played as a duo and the footage looks great. Thanks to Brodie Sessions and to Rasmus for setting it up.
