The Walter Gropius-designed Bauhaus Dessau in Germany has converted its studio building, once housing for architecture students, into a dorm-style boutique hotel. Book one of the 20 rooms fitted with Marcel Breuer’s steel tube furniture. Or, beginning in late October, stay in spaces personalized to reflect a notable former inhabitant — like a Josef Albers room, with replicas of a bed, a table and a cupboard the artist made while living there; or one dedicated to the architect Franz Ehrlich, with pieces he created for the German Democratic Republic in the 1950s.
