GEM 3.11 was the last commercial version of GEM. Except for a couple of enhancements there is very little difference between this version and GEM 2.0.

The desktop is exactly the same as that in GEM 2.0.

There is now a preference for date and time formats.

The Output application has been enhanced and looks much fancier now.

And that is all that is new in GEM 3.11.

To pad things out, here are a couple more examples of applications running under GEM 3.11. This is the GEM Draw application.

This is 1st Word Plus, a word processor for GEM.

Although GEM 3.11 was the last commercial version, Digital Research continued development of GEM as a graphical runtime for several DOS based applications. Improvements included a 3D appearance and extra interface controls.

The source code was later released to the public where various GEM fans and supporters produced updated versions that restored much of the original functionality. This is a screen shot of OpenGEM, one such release.
