Possibility of 11 teams taking part
in the VFL Second Eighteen series
in the new season was indicated last
night at the annual meeting of the
VFL Second Eighteens. Last' season
Geelong, Hawthorn, and Collingwood
did not field teams, but reports show
that Hawthorn and Collingwood may
participate in the games next season.
Congratulations were extended to St Kilda
on achieving the premiership
for the first time in the history of
the club. Medal for the best and
fairest player, donated by Mr F. W.
Gardiner, president, was won by K
Taylor, of St Kilda; and a cup
donated by Mr V. Murie, a vice
president, for the runner-up, was
won by T. Furgeson (Melbourne).

W. J. McDonnell, who has been secretary

Annual meeting of the Yarraville

billiardist. Among visitors yesterday

At the morning session in a challenge
match of 1,000 up, Lindrum,
conceding his opponent, a member
of the audience, 900, made a break
of 888, and after his opponent had
left the table with a score of 24 the
champion then went out. In the
afternoon the one given as a prize
in the break forecasting competition
was won by Pte Freame. During
play yesterday Lindrum potted the
whole frame of snooker balls 3
times. Today's programme will include
a break forecasting competition.
Patrons of the Rugger match between
inter-combined Australian
Air Force RNZAF and Button Club
at Cheam on March 27 will be given
as a curtain-raiser an exhibition of
long-distance kicking by members of
the RAAF who play Australian rules
football. The Evening Standard
says: "Australian game rules is considered
the fastest in the world.
Long-range kicking is one of the
