AUTHORS
How do I sign up?
Simply follow the instructions on the authors sign-up post and leave a comment with your details.
Can I write a fic set in the Torchwood universe but not about any of the Torchwood characters?
Yes, as long as the fic centres around Torchwood
Can I co-write with someone else?
Of course.
Does the story have to be a stand-alone, or can it be part of a series?
It can be a sequel and/or a part of a series only if it is able to stand on its own as a story. If not, it’s only allowed if the prequel was written for a previous round of the Torchwood Big Bang.
Can I use a story I have already written/I've already started writing?
Only if that story has not been posted anywhere online and is/will end up reaching the minimum requirement of 15,000 words.
Can I write more than one fic?
Yes, absolutely, we'd love that! Each will get their own art as well.
How do I submit my rough draft?
You email it to us mods. An entry with all the necessary instructions will be posted near the due date.
What are the requirements for an acceptable rough draft?
Your draft doesn't have to be betaed or make sense to anyone but you (well, and your artist). We aren't reading it, just checking and skimming to make sure you have 1) 15,000 words written (or 90% of it), and 2) have a beginning, middle, and end in sight.
Is it okay to have changed stories from what I put down in the "intending to write" part when signing up?
Yes, of course.
What if I am not able to finish on time?
If you won't be able to complete the challenge on time please let us know ASAP and we will give you an extension if you need one. If you won't be able to finish at all still let us know. No explanation needed, no questions asked. We hope you will complete the fic in your own time and try again the next round. When close to the due date, we start sending out a series of annoying emails reminding authors their rough drafts are due. If you want off our spreadsheet, you have to leave us a comment in the drop-out post.
I’m having trouble finding a beta.
There will be a beta sign up post when the author sign ups close. Take a look to see if someone can help you.
When is the final due date for my fic?
The posting schedule will be drawn up and revealed after the rough drafts due date. You will have to complete your fic by the date you’re assigned.
I can’t post my fic on my assigned date/I need more time.
Let us know. We’ll try to work out a switch with someone who’s already finished their fic in order to give you more time.
Are we posting here, or can we link back to our own journals?
You make a post here that links back to your post or the master post on your journal.
