Trash, recycling & yard waste must be out curbside by 7am on your trash day.

Woburn offers single stream recycling. You do not have to separate. All your recyclables must be placed in the 96-Gallon Waste Management Toter provided.

Residents MUST use the Waste Management issued 96-Gallon Toter that has been provided, any recycling placed on the ground or in any other bin WILL NOT be taken by WM recycling. PLASTIC BAGS of any type are prohibited from being used for recycling purposes.

The Board of Health does NOT provide trash containers.

Remember…

• Plastic bags are prohibited from being used for any recycling purposes
• Rinse all containers clean
• All recycling must fit in the 96-gallon toter with the lid closed
• Woburn encourages home composting of yard waste.
• No construction debris. (doors, windows, sheetrock, 2x4s, etc.)

Household hazardous waste CANNOT be put in with trash. Example: Liquid Paint, Paint Thinners, Pool Chemicals, Wood Stains, Varnishes, etc

2025 Bin Collection

Recycling containers are collected every other week on regular trash collection day. Neighborhoods have been assigned white or orange weeks to help clarify when recyclables will be collected. Please see the street listings below to determine your regularly scheduled trash pickup day and recycling week. For information concerning your trash or recycling schedule, contact the Board of Health at 781-897-5920.

Holiday Schedule 2025

If a collection falls on a holiday, that day’s collection and remaining collections for the week are delayed one day.

Yard Waste Schedule 2025

Yard waste pickup will be available on your regular trash day for these dates:

Please use yard waste bags or barrels without lids. NO PLASTIC BAGS. Cut branches to 3ft in length, no larger than 2in in diameter, bundle & tie.

Rules & Regulations

Christmas Trees

Christmas Trees will be picked up on Monday January 5th thru Friday January 9th, 2026 and Monday January 19th thru Friday January 23rd, 2026. Please ensure it is not buried under snow or ice.
No bags & no decorations

Construction Debris

No construction debris of any kind is allowed. This includes doors, windows, sheetrock, 2x4s, etc.

What Can Be Recycled

You can recycle: Chipboard, newspapers/inserts, magazines, catalogs, phone books, office paper, junk mail, flattened corrugated cardboard (Up to 30"x30"), glass bottles & jars, aluminum & steel (Tin) food and beverage cans, plastic bottles marked 1-7

What CAN NOT Be Recycled

You CAN NOT recycle: NO Milk or juice cartons, juice boxes, plastic bags, plastic wraps, plastic packaging and films, textiles, wires, electronics, hoses, broken glass, light bulbs, windows, dishes, pyrex, paint or aerosol cans, motor oil containers, grocery bags, stryofoam, construction debris

Items Permitted in Regular Trash

You can throw away: Regular household trash, one room's worth of carpet per week (cut to 3', rolled and tied), One bulk item per week (i.e. furniture). Please note as of November 1st, 2022 MaDEP has banned Mattresses and Box Springs from the solid waste stream. Please visit the Mattress and Textile recycling link at the top of the page for more information on how to dispose of these items. *Please note bulk item requirements will change as of July 2025, more information to come

Hazardous Waste

Household hazardous waste CANNOT be put in with trash. Example: Liquid Paint, Paint Thinners, Pool Chemicals, Wood Stains, Varnishes, etc.
The City of Woburn will hold a Hazardous Waste Drive in August 2025, more information to come

Appliance & CRT Screen Pickup

Call Waste Management for appliance and CRT screens pickup by 12 pm Thursday at 781-933-2113 to schedule Friday pick up. (note: residents are not required to use Waste Management for appliances and CRT screens pick-up)
