Thierry Henry: The wizard of Highbury
Posted: 25/04/2006, 11:26:30
Arsenal's French star Thierry Henry is rated by many pundits as the best striker in world football.
The club's all-time leading goal scorer, Henry possesses tremendous pace, vision and finishing prowess which others find hard to match.
This year the 28-year-old became the first player to score more than 20 goals in five consecutive seasons of the English Premier League.
He won the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship with France and has taken out two English Premier League titles (the second in an unbeaten campaign) and three FA Cups in a stellar career with the Gunners.
Henry has had a long association with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, having debuted for French side Monaco at 17 under then-boss Wenger.
He has been in the EPL since 1999 after failing to settle at Italian giants Juventus, where he was forced to play on the wing.
Henry took the captain's armband at Highbury last year following the departure of midfield general Patrick Vieira to Juve.
He has twice finished runner-up in FIFA's World Player of the Year award.
