We have commenced civil proceedings in the Federal Court against 4 fresh produce suppliers for alleged cartel conduct. We allege that the suppliers fixed the prices of essential household vegetables, including broccoli, cauliflower, iceberg lettuce, cucumber, Brussels sprouts, and zucchini.

ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb has welcomed the appointment of Luke Woodward as a Commissioner for a 5-year term at the ACCC, commencing from 10 October 2025.

Mr Woodward is regarded as one of Australia’s leading competition and consumer law practitioners.

The Federal Court has ordered Telstra to pay a penalty of $18 million for breaching the Australian Consumer Law. In October and November 2020, Telstra moved almost 9,000 Belong customers to a lower speed NBN plan without telling them.

The Federal Court has ordered Optus to pay $100 million in penalties for unconscionable conduct when selling mobile phones and contracts to from hundreds of Australians. Many of the consumers were vulnerable and were pursued for debts on products they did not want or need.
