About ACPM
The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) is a professional medical society representing more than 2,000 physicians dedicated to the practice of preventive medicine and public health for more than 70 years. ACPM focuses on improving the health and quality of life of individuals, families, communities, and populations through disease prevention, health promotion, and heath policy initiatives.
ACPM members are board-certified preventive medicine physicians who save lives, create healthier communities, and transform our healthcare system. Medical students and medical professionals with an interest in prevention are also welcome at ACPM, helping to contribute to our mission of advancing preventive medicine and public health.
What is Preventive Medicine?
Preventive care focuses on managing risk factors early and promoting healthy behaviors to avoid chronic conditions and improve overall well-being. At the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM), we support preventive medicine physicians through continuing education across the medical industry. Preventive medicine physicians also work with governments, business, health systems, and more to understand the needs of their communities and develop policy and population health practices to prevent disease and improve health at the population-level.
