INSPECTIONS CONDUCTED. 1503 AIR TRANSPORT WING DISCONTINUED 22 JUN AND BECAME THE 1503 AIR TRANSPORT GROUP. 6 TROOP CARRIER SQUADRON MOVED FROM TACHIKAWA AIR BASE, JAPAN, TO HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, HI. 1503 AIR TRANSPORT GROUP WAS COMMANDED BY COL EUGENE H. DYKE AND WAS ESTABLISHED UNDER THE COMMAND JURISDICTION OF THE 1502 AIR TRANSPORT WING, HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, HI. 1505 SUPPORT SQUADRON LOCATED AT KADENA AIR BASE, OKINAWA AND 1506 SUPPORT SQUADRON LOCATED AT CLARK AIR BASE, PHILIPPINES, WERE REASSIGNED TO THE 1502 AIR TRANSPORT WING. 22 TROOP CARRIER SQUADRON AND DETACHMENT ALFA, VR-7, WERE ASSIGNED TO 1503 AIR TRANSPORT GROUP. ALL OF THE C-124 GLOBEMASTER AIRCRAFT WERE ASSIGNED TO 1502 AIR TRANSPORT WING BUT 16 GLOBEMASTERS WERE POSSESSED BY 1503 AIR TRANSPORT GROUP AT ALL TIMES FOR THEATER SUPPORT AT TACHIKAWA AIR BASE, JAPAN.
