Bio
Alice Peacock is a seasoned singer-songwriter and recording artist known for her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. With seven albums to her name, Alice’s work spans major label releases and independent projects, including her self-titled album Alice Peacock, which features the popular duet "Bliss" with John Mayer. Her music has been placed in numerous TV shows (Dawson’s Creek, Smallville, What I Like About You, The Ghost Whisperer) and films (Because of Winn Dixie, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!) as well as in national ad campaigns such as Hershey’s Bliss chocolate.
Beyond her musical achievements, Alice is dedicated to social causes. A former trustee and board member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the GRAMMYS) she has advocated for artists’ rights, including testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee alongside Lyle Lovett on behalf of artist performance royalties for broadcast sound recordings. She also founded Rock For Reading, a nonprofit that raises money and supports grassroots literacy programs through music concerts.
Her most recent album, Minnesota, was released in 2019, produced by Phil Madeira in Nashville with a stellar cast of musicians. No Depression Magazine described the release as “stunningly beautiful” and “an entrancing album.” Alice lives in Cincinnati with her family, including their golden retriever and two cats.
Making ‘Minnesota'
Much has changed for singer-songwriter Alice Peacock since her last solo studio album, 2009’s Love Remains. She’s had three kids, moved to Cincinnati and…gotten 10 years older. “Feel the weight of the world on my shoulders / Am I wiser or am I just older?” she sings on “Dry Spell,” from her new collection, Minnesota. The record suggests that despite her “wondering what all is yet to be,” she has indeed attained a measure of wisdom.
“The record suggests that she has indeed attained a measure of wisdom.”
She uses the word “midlife” but does not follow it by “crisis.” She views her current outlook more as an awareness of life’s fragility and an appreciation of its sweetness. “Being a parent, I don’t know that I could love any more than I do right now,” she says, “so I’ve also never been more vulnerable. I have everything to lose.”
