The shipping was fast. The DVD set was packaged well with cardboard and bubble wrap around it in the poly bag.

For anyone who wants to remember a kinder, gentler (and yes, occasionally REALLY stupid) time in TV shows, go no further than this precious boxed set.
LAND OF THE LOST is a perfect '70s time capsule that works as both a nostalgia fix for those of us who are old enough to have kids and a show with enough absurdly cheap monster effects to please the kids of today who have been spoiled by sterling production values. Watch this with any kid nowadays, and you'll see that they love the show precisely BECAUSE it is totally and blessedly cheap-looking. Remember the Marshall family falling down that waterfall in the raft? It looks like somebody dropping a crumpled dixie cup into a kiddie pool. And don't forget, of course, the only "slightly" alarmed-sounding yells that the family make as they go down the waterfall and drop "a thousand feet below."
And don't forget those banjo-heavy music cues; again, so geeky that you really start to wish that the music would start playing every once in a while in your real life - in the office, in the car, anywhere.
Last but certainly not least, there is the great hairy Pakuni child named Chaka. What an incredible character - and clearly the inspiration for George Lucas to create Chewbacca in the STAR WARS films. Who hasn't wished that they had a little Chaka tagging along, speaking in Pakuni language and making a total nuisance of himself?
Basically, this show takes itself so seriously that you have to love it. And the "Uncle Jack" episodes in Season Three are fun, but they don't have the magic of Seasons One and Two. But there are always the Sleestaks to keep you entertained - ever notice there are only ever three Sleestaks at any one time? Cheapness, my friends . . . blessed be low-budget entertainment.
Bottom line: Perfect fun for the entire family, and a great antidote to the ultra-slick kiddie entertainment of the present day.
Buy this boxed set, and be forever happy in the LAND OF THE LOST . . . oh, and did I mention that there are really cheap dinosaurs with names like Spot, Big Alice, Grumpy, Dopey, and other names from the Seven Dwarves? See you there, friends . . . bring the screams, leave the raft.

I was delighted to find that this series was finally being released in an affordable set, so I bought it the second it was available -- and am I glad! It's nice for a chance that a show I loved as a child is still as good as it was to me then (not always the case!), and now, watching it, I can see -- yes, the effects are appallingly bad; yes, the acting leaves a lot to be desired; and, yes, it's for kids. But oh, man, the writing!
I was shocked to see names like D.C. Fontana, Ben Bova, David Gerrold, and even LARRY NIVEN cross the screen -- real, solid Science Fiction writers writing serious science fiction for children, making for a grand overall storyline broken into fairly tidy and interesting chapters that do a terrific job of holding my attention as an adult. Of course, now I find the Zarn more annoying (patronizing) than frightening, but the eerie quality of the alien is unmistakable.
I cannot believe, though, this is being pushed along with passes to the movie and some of the extras include behind-the-scenes footage on the movie rather than more on the series; the film appears to be a slapstick comedy vehicle for Will Ferrell having little to nothing to do with the original; fans of the hard SF/Fantasy of this series won't be happy with the movie (at least, it looks appalling to me). Changing the solid and practical Patriarch of the Marshall clan into a bumbling idiot and Will & Holly from his children into a sidekick and love interest, respectively, doesn't really seem to have much to do with the show.
So if you loved this show, stick with these originals. And enjoy. They're still just as good as they were. Even with the claymation dinosaurs.

Land of the Lost (1974–1977) is a children's television series created (though uncredited) by David Gerrold (of Star Trek: "The Trouble With Tribbles" fame) and produced by Sid and Marty Krofft, who co-developed the series with Allan Foshko. During its original run, it was broadcast on the NBC television network. However, it also aired in daily syndication in the early 1980s as part of the "Krofft Superstars" package. In 1985, it returned to late Saturday mornings on CBS as a replacement for the canceled Pryor's Place - also a Krofft production. It was later shown in reruns on the Sci Fi Channel in the 1990s. It has since become a cult classic and is now available on DVD as shown here in the complete series format. Krofft Productions remade the series in 1991, also titled Land of the Lost, and a big budget film adaptation was released in 2009. There were 17 episodes on 3 DVDs for Series 1 and 13 episodes on 2 DVDs for Series 2 following Rick Will and Holly with their friend Cha-Ka, Series 3 had 13 episodes on 2 DVDs without daddy Rick and with Uncle Jack. Will the Sleesak's win, will the Marshalls ever escape, stay tuned to find out! This DVD includes a sneak peek at the Land of the Lost feature with Will Ferrell. A great way to spend 17 hours and 11 minutes!

5.0 out of 5 stars LAND OF THE LOST - beste Serie (70er)

Im Land der Saurier die komplette Staffel. Achtung!
