As a document examiner for many years, I studied this case in depth. The HAND OF HAUPTMANN was a cover-up for the truth when it was discovered the wrong person ,Richard Hauptmann, was executed. This case was not about handwriting identification alone, it could not have been solved without having knowledge of the Renaissance period and could have exonerated Hauptmann before the trial began.Sixty five words in which the handwriting experts claimed were misspelled were actually correct during the Renaissance (l300-l700 AD).The contents of the ransom notes were a combination of highlights from the author's life and key phrases from his stories. The true author had a Master's of Arts degree in Literature, spoke and wrote in German.. Eighty years have passed without burying this case because it was filled with lies and manufactured evidence.

Here is a book that truly examines the handwriting of Richard Hauptmann, the man executed for his involvement in the Lindbergh kidnapping case in 1934. The first half of the volume is a retelling of the now famous story. The second half carefully looks at samples of Hauptman's handwriting and compares them with the ransom notes. The author was prepared to testify at the trial but was never called. This is a must for those of us truly interested in the case.
