I bought “Route 66: Return To The Road” probably because of the show: “Route 66”. I saw it as a suggested buy when I bought Season Four of “Route 66”. I always liked Actor Martin Milner. So I was delighted that he had been asked to drive the “Mother Road” again to take the viewers on a Two Thousand, Two Hundred And Thirty Eight Miles stretch across the country to see how much the “Mother Road” had changed since “Todd And Buzz” chased adventure after adventure for four seasons on the show: “Route 66”.

I’m not sure if the mileage I wrote in this review is exact, but according to what I’ve found in research “Route 66” began in 1926 with a total of Two Thousand Four Hundred and Forty Eight Miles, from the beginning to the end. And sometime between that time to “1960” Two Hundred and Ten Miles were somehow lost. However, I have come across other differences as to how many miles “Route 66” really was”. And how many it is now.

I found out about “Route 66”: An American Odyssey” when Martin Milner mentioned it in the interview included on “Route 66: Return To The Road”. I got curious about it and wanted to see it. I came across this selection, but buying it would have meant having another copy of “Route 66: Return To The Road”. However it was worth it, because purchasing the other two features separately would have cost more.

The different about the version of “Route 66: Return To The Road” in this collection is, there is more footage added. It wasn’t as edited as the stand alone version. And the seller whom I bought this from was very generous. Along with the collection I was given some printouts: “Route66Chicago.com, a Newsletter called “The 66 NEWS”, and a Magazine called: “Show Me Route 66”. I certainly didn’t expect all of that. The DVD Collection is as described: two discs which included all three of the features. Plus there are bonuses. The Discs are in excellent condition. The feature I did not mention on this disc is: “Drive 66: The Guide To Taking A Trip“. All three features are fun to watch and full of fun trivia.

I lived near “Route 66” for Thirty Years. I didn’t know of it’s existence until The Composer “Nelson Riddle” passed away. The “Theme From Route 66” was being featured on the radio for days after “Nelson Riddle’s” death. And all of a sudden nostalgia of Route 66 was all over the city. It has been just wonderful watching all of the features. Route 66 begins in Chicago, IL and ends in Santa Monica, Los Angelos, CA. Martin takes us on a Road Trip through Eight States: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, stopping in some of the cities, but bypassing a ton of them along the way.

I do wish that “George Maharis” had been with “Martin Milner” on the “Route 66: Return To The Road” trip. He was barely mentioned except as “Buz Murdock”. I wonder if he was asked, but declined. The really odd thing was, the show was more off “Route 66” than it was on “Route 66”.

I’ve lived near where Route 66 begins and not very far from where it ends. Now I would like to experience it by doing what Martin Milner did: get in a car from where the road begins and just ride all the way to where the road ends.

THIS WAS A FANTASTIC BUY!

I don't regret I bought this product and I got what I was expecting about its content but I have though few complain.
The DVDs box arrived damaged and I find it too expensive especially when I realised that there were no subtitles, which are very handy for a non native English speaker and the quality of the videos was not great.

Steinbeck dubbed it the Mother Road and Kerouac revived it for the beat generation. Any history of America must include Route 66. Who could be a better tour guide than Martin Milner?

While a great tour of Route 66, this has nothing to do with the late fifties/early sixties tv series. Actors are listed, but it is a mistake. This video has no Corvette in it!
