I didn't have alot hope for the potential of a live cd from John Mayer as he has always struck me as kind of conservative which might negatively affect a live performance. So, with hesitancy, I tried the cd anyway and was really impressed with the creative and imaginative alternate versions to the studio tracks. This is the kind of work I look for in a live cd...it should explore all the creativity an artist has to offer instead of a mirror reproduction of a collection of studio tracks (The Eagles come to mind as one of the worst live bands of all time for this reason). With the exception of "Comfortable" there are no weak tracks on this cd and several outstanding tracks such as "Back To You", "Neon" and "Covered In Rain". Another great aspect of this cd is a very intellectual cover of "Message In A Bottle"- covers are nice additions to live cd's- only the best of the best have the imagination to include one or two. The guitar and bass work are wonderfully articulate while the percussion and organ get the job done...overall the band is very tight. The only real negative I could pick up was that Mayer's voice seemed a little tired...probably because the recording was made at the end of his tour (I never could figure out why musicians would make a live recording at the end of a tour rather than somewhere near the beginning or middle). Anyway, great cd...hard to believe anyone would be disappointed with this one.

This CD is one of my FAVS of John Mayer's!!! I also have the DVD of this, and LOVE IT!!! This particular concert is when he first started getting popular. Love to hear older versions of when the songs like No Such Thing, and Neon John had done. He is just so AWESOME!!! I highly recommend this, and the DVD to any HUGE John Mayer like myself. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!! Also where the light is live in Los Angeles DVD is WONDERFUL!!! Love the trio together, watch pretty much everyday. John mayer just has that music that you can always listen to!!!

Item was in perfect condition when received and shipped in a few days. Mayer is great in concert and with songs like lenny/ man on the side not being on any of his commercial CDs, it's great. It also captures Mayer's earlier years when he was getting started and the long extended songs are great as well.

I notice with some musicians, they are very polarizing. Listeners that complain about John Mayer seem to have a problem with his vocal tone which they say is made up (what about all the British singers that sound "American"), or they have a problem that young girls like him too much (The Beatles were loved by young girls, but it never took away from their music).
I simply listen to the music. Some of the engineering is poor to moderate on a technical level, but the songs are still there and his acumen with the guitar and as an arranger are obvious.
The guy has talent. Sorry whiners. I prefer the studio CD's cause I'm a nutty perfectionist, but a well done and performed live concert will certainly be coming again and I hope they get right with more bluesy arrangements and better sound.
All in all an excellent CD that will not dissapoint unless you already don't like him in which case, why are you wasting your money? If you are a fan, abviously you will love the CD especially if you have seen him live.

I bought this for my husband and have become a fan by hearing him play it over and over. Now we are both hooked on his sound.
I am not impressed with music these days, so it is nice to listen to something worthy of my time.
My husband loves the way John blends several eras of music into his recordings.

The comparisons to Dave Matthews may never be hushed, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. One thing that cannot be denied however is the fact that John Mayer is a genius and has a great chance of becoming a musical legend. His debut album Room for Squares proved that he was a force to be recon with, and the album's acoustic EP follow-up, Inside Wants Out, solidified his presence in the industry. Now after being in the industry for just under a year and a half, Sony distributes John's third release, and to date his best, a double disc live album entitled Any Given Thursday.
The album which was recorded at one of his concerts in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama includes the monster hits "No Such Thing" & the hypnoticly catchy "Your Body is a Wonderland". Both of which are better live then on the original disc. Other favorites from his debut that appear on this release include "Why Georgia", "My Stupid Mouth", "3 x 5" & "Neon". Though the annoying chants of screaming girls & extended versions of songs are present, its still well worth a listen. The album also includes 4 new songs, the best being "Covered in Rain", a laid back rock number with potential to dominate the charts. Others highlights include "Lenny/Man on the Side" & "Comfortable".
The album contains only 15 songs, but the most annoying part of it is that its contained on 2 discs. Instead of just enjoying the concert straight through, the listener much change discs after only 8 songs. The second disc, only contains 7 songs. There is no reason why this all couldn't fit on one disc. The album however is well worth the listen and is a refreshing blend of new and old music that won't disappoint even the biggest haters.

Da fan di John Mayer mi mancava questo album e forse un altro. Come spesso è solito fare dopo un album in studio esce quello live. Dopo Room for Square ecco Any Given Thursday. Le canzoni sono stupende (che dovrei dire sennò da fan quale sono), JM spazia tutti i generi, dal Blues al Pop all'Acustico.
Consigliato a chi si volesse avvicinare a questo artista e soprattutto a chi piacciono i suoi primi lavori

「天才ならでは」で10年弱で突っ走ったということ。夢の跡を追うのは無駄。上記の輝きで十分だとわたしは思います。
