Fun record. Probably too short. Some tracks don't sound like Green Day with the vocals low in the mix, but not a problem.Read more

This is a way better album than I gave it credit for being!!

This is a way better album than I gave it credit for being!!

Initially, I didn't think much of "Father of All..." for a few reasons. I thought the cover art was crap, just tacky, with a silly album title, and I couldn't take it seriously. Maybe these were superficial things but then... The first, I guess single I heard didn't sound much like a Green Day song either. Billie's voice was too warped by vocal effects it kind of ruined it for me. So I ignored this album for years until they released 'Saviors', then I took a chance and listened to "Sugar Youth" which I loved so I decided to give the whole record a thorough listen. It's a really good and solid record throughout! I don't care about the full length of the album being short, I dig that. Plus, each song works and still has Green Day's signature flair with a twist. Even the artwork has grown on me. Surprised I bought this record but glad I did!

I had this album for a while, wasn't too sure about it when i first got it, definitely different then their other albums. I started to listen to it again and really like it, yes it's short but the songs are good, not a bad one in the bunch, if you like the foxborough hottubs music it's kinda like that. I dig it. I have been a Green Day fan forever so appreciate all their work, it's not my favorite of their albums but better then uno dos, tre imo combined imo.

It’s different - but it’s a growing on me. After a few listens I have to say I really enjoy this. Yes it’s a bit different, however it’s not. If you’ve enjoyed Dos! as I did, then you will hear the similarities. Also the Foxboro Hot Tubs Album has a similar feel. Personally I think this is better. I’d rather give four stars...but this is getting beaten to death by folks who want 1994 Green Day. It still rocks. It’s too short...but it’s a fun listen.

Great album. Not a bad song in the bunch. To all those people who are dumping on this because it’s short run time.... who cares? I’d rather have a short killer album than a 60 minute piece of crap with only one good song on it. After the (in my opinion) disastrous uno, duo, tres albums, it has been great to hear GD climb their way back to greatness one album at a time. For us older rockers, there are not many class act rock bands around anymore. Be happy the guys are still around making good music- regardless of the amount.

This is a solid effort by Green Day. The songs are fun and danceable. That said, hardcore fans may not dig the different sound, complete with hand claps and a Joan Jett sample of "Do You Wanna Touch Me." But Green Day has never been afraid to stray, as is evident throughout their career, and this album doesn't resemble earlier works like Kerplunk and Dookie, or any of their later albums.
To me, Father of All... sounds like a power-pop cross between Panic! At The Disco and My Chemical Romance ("I Was A Teenage Teenager"); it's Green Day trying hard (maybe too hard) to stay relevant in an ever-changing music culture - and quite possibly trying to score a Top 40 hit.
One downside: This album is only 26 minutes long! How can they even call it a full-length album? Okay, it has 10 songs, but most are short. Couldn't Green Day give at least 2 more songs for $14?? Minus 1 star.
