Princ-wiki-a Mathematica: Wikipedia Editing and Mathematics
David Eppstein, Joel Brewster Lewis and Russ Woodroofe
Wikipedia is the first place that many of us go to learn about a new mathematical idea. In this overview, we will discuss how to go about creating or editing an article on a mathematical subject. We will also discuss biographies of mathematicians, articles on mathematical books, and the social dynamics of the Wikipedia editor community. Read the full article
Machine-Assisted Proof
Terence Tao
In recent decades, several promising new ways to use computers to assist in mathematical research have emerged. Each of these types of tools has already found niche applications in different areas of mathematics, but what is particularly intriguing is the possibility of combining these tools together, with one tool counteracting the weaknesses of another. Short Stories: Rational Approximation
Lloyd N. Trefethen
Rational approximation has gone through a transformation in recent years with the appearance of algorithms that make computing rational approximations easy. The aim of this short story is not to describe these algorithms, but to show how beautifully they can reveal the power of rational functions and the mathematics of rational approximation.
