Squid Girl Producer Posts, Deletes Blog on Index Parody

Producer comments on Index II's parody of Ika Musume, but apologizes hours later

On Sunday, a Pony Canyon producer posted a comment on the Squid Girl (Shinryaku! Ika Musume) anime's staff blog about a Toaru Majutsu no Index II parody of Squid Girl, only to delete it hours later. The first Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume of the Toaru Majutsu no Index II anime is shipping this week with the third "Toaru Majutsu no Index-tan" bonus anime. As the Squid Girl producer Tatsuya Ishiguro ("Guro") noted, this bonus anime with a parody of Squid Girl has already been posted online without authorization. Like the Squid Girl character herself, the Index-tan parody of Squid Girl has a squid-shaped head, ends sentences with "geso" ("squid tentacles"), and squirts black ink.

Ishiguro added that the Squid Girl production staff and committee members were bewildered by the parody. According to the producer, they thought it was an affectionate parody done for fan service, but were "a little saddened" by it. He ended the post by saying, "junior producer Guro, whose stomach hurts a little."

However, hours later, Ishiguro removed the blog post and replaced it with an apology. The producer explained that the previous post created unnecessary conflict among fans, and he apologized for posting personal comments that were "unsuitable" for the blog. He added that he is eating tonight to calm his stomach.
