One Piece #62's 1st Printing Matches #61's 3.8-Million-Copy Run

posted on 2011-05-03 23:02 EDT by Egan Loo

The Japanese publisher Shueisha produced 3.8 million copies of the 62nd volume of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece pirate manga for its release on Monday. This matches the number of copies that Shueisha published for the first printing of the 61st volume. As a result, One Piece did not beat its own record for Japan's largest first printing ever; the manga series had increased its first print run with every volume for the last six volumes in a row.

All told, over 230 million copies of the entire manga series have been printed; One Piece has had the highest number of copies printed of any Shueisha manga series in Japan.
