Massive: Gay Erotic Manga also nominated for Best Anthology

The 2015 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards panel of judges announced its nominees for the best works in the comic book industry on Wednesday. Five manga titles are vying for the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia award:

In addition, Fantagraphics' Massive: Gay Erotic Manga and the Men Who Make It, edited by Ann Ishii, Chip Kidd, & Graham Kolbeins, was nominated in the Best Anthology category. Viz Media's Hello Kitty, Hello 40: A Celebration in 40 Stories was nominated in the Best Publication for Early Readers (up to age 7) category. Stan Sakai was nominated for Best Writer/Artist and Best Lettering for his Usagi Yojimbo: Senso, Usagi Yojimbo Color Special: The Artist, published by Dark Horse.

The results in all categories will be announced in a gala awards ceremony on the evening of Friday, July 10 at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

PictureBox's release of Osamu Tezuka's The Mysterious Underground Men won the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia award last year. Other nominees included Shigeru Mizuki's Showa: A History of Japan, 1926–1939, Moto Hagio's The Heart of Thomas, Yemmakura Baku and Jiro Taniguchi's The Summit of the Gods, and Asumiko Nakamura's Utsubora: The Story of a Novelist.
